Your Ausbildung choice comes down to what you enjoy doing, what you're good at, how much German you can use professionally, whether you prefer people, technology, business or practical work, your educational background, the kind of workplace you want, and where you want your career to go afterwards.
Don't choose an Ausbildung just because it's "in demand." Choose one whose actual day-to-day work you can see yourself doing for several years — because that's how long it lasts, and a shortage occupation you dislike is still a bad career choice.

🔴 Higher / occupation-specificNot everything called "Ausbildung" is the same thing. Erzieher/in has several training models — school-based routes, practice-integrated PiA, and other state-specific structures — which differ substantially in how they're organised and whether you're paid.
Don't compare an Erzieher/in programme against a standard dual Ausbildung just because both use the word. Check the training model, the Bundesland and the payment arrangement before you commit to anything.

Would you still want this profession if the salary and the "Germany" factor were removed?
If the answer is no, reconsider the occupation. You'll be doing this work every day for two to three and a half years, and then for a career after that.
What the German level indicators mean
The coloured labels in the finder are German LifeBox planning indicators — our read on how much German the work realistically demands. They are not legal requirements, and no employer is bound by them.
For third-country nationals, current government guidance sets B1 as the normal benchmark for the vocational-training visa — specifically where the training institution hasn't already tested your German and you haven't completed a preparatory course.
That clears immigration. It does not oblige a single employer to hire you, and it doesn't mean you'll cope in Berufsschule. Those are three different bars. Make it in Germany — vocational training visa ↗

Don't choose an Ausbildung from a salary table
Your training pay varies significantly by occupation, employer, collective agreement, Bundesland, training year, and whether the employer is public or private. Two people in the same occupation in different states can be paid noticeably differently.

Research your final three
Once you've narrowed to three occupations, work through all four steps for each one. This is the part most applicants skip, and it's the part that separates a targeted application from a wasted year.
Build your final shortlist
Three professions, in three tiers. This is far safer than applying randomly to fifty unrelated Ausbildungsberufe — and much easier to write a convincing application for.
